Privacy Notice
Last updated: 16 October 2026
1. Scope
ResearchHub is an online scholarly platform for researchers, students, institutions and research outputs. This notice explains how information may be collected, used, stored and disclosed when you use ResearchHub, including when advertising and analytics technologies are enabled.
2. Information we may collect
- Account and profile information that you provide, such as your name, affiliation, email address and professional identifiers.
- Research and publication information that you submit or make available through the platform.
- Technical information such as IP address, browser/device information, approximate location derived from technical signals, pages viewed, referring URLs, timestamps and security events.
- Cookies, local storage, session storage and similar technologies used for authentication, security, preferences, analytics and advertising.
- Information you send to ResearchHub through contact or support channels.
3. How we use information
We may use information to operate and secure ResearchHub, authenticate users, provide requested services, maintain scholarly profiles and publications, prevent abuse, troubleshoot technical problems, understand platform usage, improve the service, communicate with users, and support advertising where enabled.
4. Google advertising and AdSense
ResearchHub may use Google AdSense and related Google advertising technologies. When Google advertising is served, Google and its partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses or similar identifiers to serve, measure or personalise advertising, subject to applicable Google policies and user controls.
Google's explanation of how it uses data on partner sites is available at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
ResearchHub does not sell personal information to advertisers. Third-party advertising providers may independently process information under their own policies and applicable settings.
Advertising placements are limited to eligible published editorial articles. ResearchHub keeps its AdSense requests paused while consent information is missing or invalid, and uses non-personalised advertising settings. Requests also stay paused if the consent controls are unavailable. The separate site-storage notice does not grant advertising consent.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Some cookies and browser storage are necessary for core functionality, authentication, security and preferences. Analytics or advertising technologies may also be used where enabled. You can manage cookies through your browser and can review the separate Cookie Policy.
6. Third-party services
ResearchHub may integrate services such as Google services, ORCID and infrastructure or analytics providers. Those providers may process information according to their own privacy notices and terms. Links to third-party services do not mean that ResearchHub controls their processing.
7. Public and user-generated information
Information that you intentionally publish as part of a public researcher profile, publication record, dataset, post or other public ResearchHub feature may be visible to other users and search engines. Do not publish information that you do not want to make public.
8. Security and retention
ResearchHub uses technical and organisational measures intended to protect information. Information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this notice, legal obligations, dispute resolution, security and legitimate platform operations.
9. Your choices
You may manage browser cookies, update available account information, and contact ResearchHub regarding privacy questions or requests. Some functionality may not work correctly if essential cookies or storage are disabled.
When Google's consent controls are available on an article, use Advertising privacy choices in the footer to reopen the consent message. Google also provides advertising settings; participating advertising providers offer further choices through the industry opt-out page. Those external settings do not replace the site's consent controls.
10. Contact
For privacy or data-related questions, please use the ResearchHub contact page.
11. Updates
ResearchHub may update this notice when its services, technologies or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page with its effective date.
