Abstract
International migration has become a global issue. One type of international migration that has garnered significant attention and has far-reaching implications is cross-border labor migration. Indonesia is the fourth-largest source country of migrant workers in the world. The trend in the placement of migrant workers from Indonesia has continued to decline from 2014 to 2021. The year 2014 saw the highest number of migrant workers, reaching 429,874 people. One of the major sources of foreign exchange for Indonesia is remittances sent by Indonesian migrant workers. This study aims to examine the dynamics of the number of migrant workers in Indonesia and to explore the relationship between remittances and the employment status of Indonesian migrant workers. This can be achieved through quantitative descriptive analysis and inferential analysis, which can be used to identify trends and relationships between remittances and the workers’ employment sectors. The results of the study indicate that there is a relationship between remittances and the employment sectors of migrant workers.
