Abstract
In 2025, Clemson University Libraries launched the Library Leadership Development program, with its inaugural cohort of seven library faculty and staff members. The Library Leadership Development Program is a 12-month program designed to support and develop leadership within Clemson University Libraries. The cohort-based program enables participants to gain a pragmatic understanding of leadership, build inter-division relationships, learn directly from library leadership and embrace their own ability to lead within the Clemson community. The inaugural program curriculum was designed to address the leadership development needs identified by the cohort. This chapter will provide a review of literature regarding leadership development programs, an overview of the process of developing the program, needed resources and pragmatic recommendations for establishing a similar program at your own institution, and an assessment of the program’s limitations and successes.
