The above article, published online on 2 March 2010, in Wiley Online Library (
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/
), has been retracted by agreement between the journal Editors‐in‐Chief, Jinxing Lin and Christine Foyer; and John Wiley & Sons Ltd. A third party contacted the journal regarding apparently duplicated images between this article and an earlier article by the same authors (Sengupta and Majumder, 2009:
https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00425‐008‐0878‐y
). The concerns were also posted to PubPeer (Dendrochilum tuberculatum 2025). Following investigation, the publisher confirmed overlap between Figure 1C of this article and Figures 2B and 3B of the 2009 article; Figure 3B of this article and Figure 8 of the 2009 article; Figure 3E of this article and Figure 5D of the 2009 article; and overlap within Figure 1F, panels C and F, of this article. The authors did not respond to the publisher's requests for comment. Due to these duplications of images from the authors’ previous work, the editors have lost confidence in the results reported, and therefore the article must be retracted.
