Abstract
This work is aimed at analysing the phytoremediation potential of araucaria plants obtained in vitro. We have optimised the protocol of sterilisation of araucaria explants and microclonal propagation of the obtained plants, carried out their genetic Agrobacterium rhizogenezes-mediated transformation to stimulate root formation of the obtained plants and developed a protocol for effective rooting of plants using various growth regulators. Preliminary studies have shown that araucaria plants are able to reduce the consentration of chromium VI ions in the culture medium to trace amounts.
