Abstract
The paper addresses current challenges and strategic directions for the development of the waste management system in Ukraine, particularly in the context of post-war recovery. Emphasis is placed on the necessity of transitioning to environmentally oriented and sustainable waste management models, taking into account the experience of EU countries. The core theme of the study is the implementation of circular economy concepts and waste-to-energy (WtE) technologies as a pathway to ecological modernization and energy independence. It is noted that effective waste management should be based on legislative reforms, technical upgrades, educational initiatives, and broad public engagement. Innovative solutions, particularly intelligent WtE supply chains, should consider regional characteristics and socio-economic factors. The study highlights the importance of an integrated approach to waste handling as a prerequisite for sustainable development and Ukraine's European integration.
