Abstract
Construction projects are characterized by complexity and uncertainty, resulting in frequent modifications during design and construction phases. This necessitates more adaptable management practices. Conversely, Agile project management has demonstrated significant flexibility and adaptability to changes. While many frameworks are proposed for handling project changes using agile project management, there is a lack in assess such frameworks in change optimization. To achieve this, a narrative review of 35 research papers was conducted to examine the reasons for change. Then, adopting agile project management frameworks was deeply analyzed within the Egyptian market by in-depth interview and case study analysis. It was disclosed that strategies like time boxing, backlog management, and fostering client engagement can diminish the frequency of modifications. Nonetheless, Agile Project Management continues to encounter issues in managing changes and scope. The researchers proposed preliminary guidelines for enhancing change order management in construction firms. More empirical studies are required to enhance further frameworks for change order management.
