Abstract
This article explores how feminist collective singing shapes the “feminist protest body” and the emotions embedded in this process, with a particular focus on Mexico City. It employs conceptual frameworks that address sound, protest, affect, and feminist affiliations, drawing from sonic archives and subjective experiences. The research adopts decolonial, affective, creative, and sonic methodologies, inspired by the term “Sono-sororidades”, introduced by Latin American scholars, which emphasize the significance of sound in fostering emotional bonds among women within feminist movements. Through lyric analysis of Mexican chanted slogans and sounding exercises, profound meanings are uncovered and intense connections surface. Participants’ proximity to feminist protests leads to transformative effects, as they engage with women's struggles and connect with them on a deep level. These soundscapes not only express emotions but also influence them, offering alternative emotional experiences and promoting solidarity.
