Abstract
This article presents a theoretical analysis of the category of perezhivanieas a multidimensional phenomenon that serves to integrate the individual and the environment. Following the Vygotskian tradition, perezhivanie is understood here not as a passive emotional response, but as an active internal activity and a dynamic mechanism for the meaning-based processing of significant life events, in which affective, cognitive, and value-semantic components are inseparably fused. The relevance of the study is driven by the continuing evolution of conceptions of perezhivanie, the growing diversity of fragmented research approaches, and the persistent terminological ambiguity, all of which call for a systematisation of the accumulated body of knowledge. The aim of the research is to systematise contemporary perspectives and to develop an integrative model of perezhivanie as a multilevel process. The methodological framework combines L.S. Vygotsky’s cultural-historical approach, F.E. Vasilyuk’s conceptualisation of perezhivanieas a specific type of activity, phenomenological and humanistic traditions, as well as recent studies on stress, crises, selfconsciousness, and personal resources. As a result of the theoretical analysis, five interrelated components of the cyclical process of perezhivanie are identified and characterised in detail: the situational, the emotionalaffective, the cognitivesemantic, the personalregulatory, and the activitytransformational. It is shown that these components reflect the successive processing of a subjectively significant life situation–from primary appraisal and affective response, through reflection and regulation, to the transformation of the individual’s system of relations with reality. A cyclical integrative model is proposed, which synthesises classical tenets of the psychology of perezhivaniewith contemporary empirical findings. The novelty of the work consists in conceptualising perezhivanie as an open, nonlinear process that unifies affect, meaning, personal resources, and behavioural transformations within a single explanatory framework. In contrast to approaches that focus solely on emotional reactivity or coping with critical situations, the proposed model describes perezhivanie as a process that continually reproduces the link between the personality and the lifeworld. The practical significance of the study lies in the potential application of this model as a heuristic schema for diagnosing the current stage of perezhivanie and for selecting intervention targets in psychological counselling and therapy for crisis states.
