Abstract
Teacher educators play a vital role in shaping the quality of teacher education and, consequently, influencing the overall school education system. In India, teacher education institutions are witnessing significant changes due to regulatory reforms, increasing accreditation standards, technological advancements, and rising societal expectations. This creates a challenging environment in which teacher educators must address multiple issues while maintaining their commitment to their institutions.Organizational commitment, defined as employees' psychological attachment and loyalty to their organization, is essential for maintaining consistency, quality, and stability in teacher education institutions. This paper examines the various challenges and motivational factors influencing the organizational commitment of teacher educators.Drawing on national and international literature, policy documents, and contextual analysis, the study highlights challenges such as heavy workload, infrastructural limitations, limited research opportunities, financial constraints, administrative pressure, and professional isolation. On the other hand, factors such as supportive leadership, recognition, career growth, institutional climate, professional development opportunities, and interpersonal relationships are identified as key motivators. The article further emphasizes the need for systemic reforms, institutional strengthening, and continuous professional support to enhance the organizational commitment of teacher educators. It also provides recommendations for policymakers, administrators, and faculty members to create a conducive environment for improving teacher motivation and institutional loyalty.
