Abstract
This study aims to describe the implementation of the scaffolding strategy in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) lessons specifically regarding the topic of superior regional products for fifth-grade students at SDN 1 Sukamulia, as well as the students' responses during the learning process. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observations of teacher and student activities, alongside in-depth interviews with the class teacher and students representing three ability levels (high, medium, and low). Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the teacher implemented the scaffolding strategy in stages: providing full assistance during the contingency phase, reducing assistance during the fading phase, and finally relinquishing learning responsibility to the students during the transfer of responsibility phase. Students demonstrated increased engagement, the confidence to ask questions, and independence in completing tasks, although levels of understanding varied among them. The primary challenge faced by the teacher was time management when providing individual assistance to each group.
