Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between compensation and employee work motivation at Tanimbar Swalayan Saumlaki. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The informants in this study consisted of employees, including the head cashier, selected using purposive sampling technique. The results showed that there is a relationship between compensation and employee work motivation. Compensation is influenced by several factors, namely employee attendance within one month (30 days), punctuality, and responsibility in maintaining the cleanliness of the sales area. Employees with high attendance, punctual behavior, and responsibility for cleanliness tend to have higher work motivation. In conclusion, compensation plays an important role in improving employee work motivation. Therefore, management is expected to maintain and improve a fair and transparent compensation system in order to enhance employee performance.
