Abstract
The article examines current trends and structural transformations of Romania's foreign trade in the context of European integration. The main stages of Romania's accession to the European Union are examined and the country's experience is analyzed for borrowing by other candidate countries. The advantages of Romania's accession to the European Union are determined. The role of Romania's European integration and its significance for the formation of the country's modern model of foreign trade relations are determined. The main macroeconomic indicators are analyzed, namely: gross domestic product (GDP) and GDP per capita of Romania in the period from 1987 to 2025 to substantiate the relationship with foreign trade. The dynamics of Romania's exports and imports in 2013-2025 are studied and the trend analysis method was applied to build a forecast of the country's foreign trade. The obtained forecast makes it possible to fully assess the transformation of Romania's foreign trade activity for the next three years. The geographical and commodity structure of Romania foreign trade in 2025 is presented and the role of the country's main trading partners is determined. The place of Romania in the foreign trade system of the European Union countries and the features of its increased integration into the single European market are determined. The largest share of Romania foreign trade falls on the countries of the European Union. Based on the analysis, promising directions for the development of Romania foreign trade are identified, namely increasing the competitiveness of Romanian producers, diversifying trade relations, actively developing the production of products with high added value and deepening Romania participation in European value chains.
