Abstract
In this chapter, we discuss the gaps in the current understanding of how generative large language models (LLMs) make person judgments. Person judgments refer to inferences about someone's standing on a psychological construct, particularly when the judgment is made under uncertainty. We extend this concern to the application of LLMs to inform human resources (HR) decision making. We consider the ethical and legal implications of using LLMs to make person judgments to inform HR decision making. Finally, we outline a set of general research questions centered on unstudied and understudied questions as it pertains to the use of LLMs in HR decision making.
