Abstract
Drawing on 18 years of experience in observing and researching the participation of Ukrainian artists in the Venice Biennale, the author analyzes the participation of Ukraine in 2019 and demonstrates the errors and findings of the process participants and the artists themselves. It is studied why the Ukrainian national project The Shadow Of Dream* Cast Upon Giardini Della Biennale did not receive much critical acclaim. The article also focuses on the reasons, while Ukraine repeatedly produces the projects of little interest that do not comply with the requirements and international standards. The article is based on a thorough review of the entire curatorial exhibition in Arsenal and a number of national expositions in Jardini.
