Abstract
THE DÉREDEC PROGRAMMING SYSTEM The Déredec is a general programming system used for the automatic analysis of texts. Its essential caracteristic is in the fact that it allows the addition of descriptions to the elements which make up the text. These are attached either to one element (paradigmatic desriptor), or to several; in the latter case the description can produce relations which join together the group of elements in question (syntagmatic descriptor). These two properties confer on the system all kinds of possibilities with regard to textual analysis. One particular important case is clearly formed by syntactic analysis. Déredec allows us to operate a grammar (Descriptive grammar of the Text) which produces a syntactic analysis of the text; it also allows us to programme patterns of exploration permitting the analysis of this structured whole.
