Abstract
The ambiguous situation with type specimens of the northern pika from Chukotka and Kamchatka is considered. The geographic location of the "type locality" for the nominal taxon Ochotona hyperborea (Pallas, 1811) is clarified. Nomenclatural confusion regarding the northern pika subspecies from Kamchatka is resolved. The classification of the subspecies Ochotona hyperborea minima (Sokolov, Ivanitskaya, Gruzdev, Heptner, 1994) as a synonym of the nominal subspecies Ochotona hyperborea hyperborea (Pallas, 1811) is confirmed. ?he intraspecific structure of Ochotona hyperborea in Northeast Asia is shown to require further comprehensive study.
