Abstract
Background
Estrogen deficiency contributes substantially to intrinsic skin aging by reducing dermal collagen, impairing hydration, decreasing elasticity, and compromising overall skin quality. Although hormone therapy may attenuate these changes, many are either unwilling or unable to receive systemic hormonal treatment. Injectable nonanimal stabilized hyaluronic acid (NASHA) gel skinboosters may represent a nonhormonal approach for improving skin quality in this population. Objective
To evaluate the efficacy of an infiltrative treatment of injectable hyaluronic acid NASHA gel skinbooster antiaging treatment to improve and restore skin quality in premenopausal and postmenopausal women with estrogen deficiency–associated skin aging who were not receiving hormone therapy. Methods
This prospective observational case series included 10 women (5 premenopausal and 5 postmenopausal) with mild-to-moderate climacteric symptoms and no history of hormone therapy. All participants underwent gynecologic-hormonal and dermatologic evaluation before receiving 3 monthly treatment sessions with injectable NASHA gel skinbooster. Clinical assessments, standardized photography, and patient-reported outcomes were obtained at baseline(T0), after 3 monthly treatments (T1), after 4 months (T2), and after 6 months (T3).Results
Participants demonstrated clinical improvement in multiple parameters of facial skin quality following treatment. Improvements were observed in hydration, texture, elasticity, and the appearance of fine lines and roughness. Standardized photographs showed progressive aesthetic improvement throughout follow-up, and patients reported high levels of treatment satisfaction. The treatment protocol was well tolerated, with only minor transient injection-related reactions. Conclusions
In this case series, treatment with injectable NASHA gel skinbooster was associated with improvements in facial skin quality in women with estrogen deficiency who were not receiving hormone therapy. These findings suggest that injectable NASHA gel skinbooster may represent a useful adjunctive nonhormonal approach for improving visible manifestations of estrogen-deficiency-related facial skin aging.  .
