Abstract
Introduction: Global food security is currently facing increasingly complex challenges, including in Indonesia. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between socioeconomic characteristics, social assistance receipt, and household dietary diversity with household food security among communities in Sungai Bakau Besar Laut Village, Mempawah Regency. Method: This study employed a quantitative cross-sectional design. A multi-stage sampling technique, consisting of purposive sampling and simple random sampling, was used to select 117 respondents. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews using structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test with SPSS software.Result and Discussion: The results showed significant associations between the occupation of the household head (p-value = 0.024), household income (p-value = 0.030), household food expenditure share (p-value = 0.040), social assistance receipt (p-value = 0.030), and household dietary diversity (p-value = 0.002) with household food security. Meanwhile, the educational level of the household head (p-value = 0.586) and household size (p-value = 0.336) were not significantly associated. Conclusion: In conclusion, the occupation of the household head, household income, household food expenditure share, social assistance receipt, and household dietary diversity play important roles in household food security. In contrast, the educational level of the household head and household size were not significantly associated with household food security.
