Abstract
The research network “Not Only Dressed but Dressing: Clothing, Childhood, Creativity”, led by Hannah Field and Kiera Vaclavik, explores the significance of clothing in childhood through an interdisciplinary lens. Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (UKRI-AHRC), it brings together academics, curators, and creative practitioners across France and Britain to examine childhood dress and children’s sartorial agency. Combining fashion theory and childhood studies, the project analyses how children are both dressed and active dressers. Through workshops with partners such as the Young V&A and scholarly outputs, it highlights the social, political, and creative dimensions of children’s dress while advancing curatorial practices.
