Abstract
The intertitles of the talkie: a few cases of Soviet intertitle practice in sound films of the early 1930s. This study addresses the question of the role of intertitles in Soviet sound films in the early 1930s, based on four concrete cases : The Path of Life (Nikolai Ekk, 1931), The Gold Mountains (Sergei Youtkevich, 1931), The Big Consolator (Lev Kouleshov, 1933), and The Peasants (Friedrich Ermler, 1935).
