Abstract
This chapter introduces thriving in life as a meaningful goal, which arises from living well despite the challenges that arise in everyday life. We introduce a garden as a metaphor for thinking about the life well lived. We describe Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Flow Theory, which together create the foundation for Values-Flow. We consider points of convergence and areas of tension amongst these three therapies and theories. The Values-Flow framework provides a synthesis for understanding when to apply each one to lead to meaningful, values-based engagement with life.
