Abstract
Medical technology refers to a broad spectrum of tools, methods, and innovations designed to enhance healthcare services, including diagnostics, treatment, and patient care outcomes. It encompasses everything from basic instruments—such as thermometers and stethoscopes—to advanced systems like imaging technologies, robotic surgery, and genetic testing. Significant advancements have been made in diagnostic tools such as MRI, CT scans, and ultrasound. By enabling the non-invasive visualization of the body’s internal structures, these technologies enhance accuracy in both diagnosis and treatment planning. In the realm of treatment, medical technology has transformed patient care through minimally invasive procedures utilizing laparoscopic and robotic systems. These advancements help reduce surgical risks, shorten recovery times, and improve precision. Furthermore, advancements in pharmaceuticals—including personalized medicine and targeted drug delivery—facilitate the customization of treatments to meet the specific needs of each individual patient. Technologies such as telemedicine and remote monitoring systems further support the continuity of care, fostering improved communication between healthcare providers and patients. Research in medical technology is of paramount importance, as it fosters innovation, elevates the quality of healthcare, and enhances patient well-being. It plays a pivotal role in the early detection of diseases, the development of effective treatment modalities, and the cultivation of multidisciplinary collaboration. This study employs the PROMETHEE method—a multi-criteria decision-making approach—to evaluate alternative modalities such as Artificial Intelligence in diagnostics, robotic surgery, MRI, and telemedicine. Based on criteria including accuracy, efficiency, patient outcomes, cost-effectiveness, ethics, and adaptability, the results indicate that among the evaluated modalities, Artificial Intelligence in diagnostics ranks first, while telemedicine ranks last.
