Abstract
Zápisky (Notes), the posthumously published memoirs and autobiographical reflections of Josef Jungmann, seem to be a “minor work” without any claim to great publicity, especially when compared to Jungmann’s other works. With respect to one peculiarity of (auto)biographical writing - the time lags between lived experience, the creation of the text and its reception - the article discusses this short text both in the context of the author’s other oeuvre and with regard to aspects of language and nationality that appeared different during Jungmann’s lifetime than they do in retrospect.
