Abstract
ABSTRACT
Digital transformation requires guidance and counseling (GC) services to adapt to developments in information and communication technology to become more accessible, responsive, and supportive of students’ independence. However, the use of online-based interactive counseling media in secondary education institutions in West Nusa Tenggara still faces limitations in media availability and human resource competencies. This condition is also found in teacher education institutions (LPTK) providing the Guidance and Counseling field of the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) program, including Universitas Pendidikan Mandalika, which requires capacity building for lecturers and mentor teachers in developing and implementing technology-based counseling services. This activity aimed to improve the competencies of PPG lecturers and mentor teachers in developing and practicing online-based interactive counseling media through the MERDEKA Model (Starting from Yourself, Concept Exploration, Collaborative Space, Contextual Demonstration, Understanding Elaboration, Interconnection of Materials, and Real Action). The activity employed a participatory training approach through material delivery, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, group work, individual and group counseling simulations, observation, reflection, and contextual practice. The activity was conducted on October 3, 2024, involving 40 participants consisting of a resource person, PPG lecturers, GC mentor teachers, educational staff, IT administrators, and committee members. The results demonstrated a collaborative and practical learning experience in understanding online counseling principles, applying counseling principles and techniques, and practicing technology-based individual and group counseling. The MERDEKA Model provided a systematic training framework for integrating knowledge, skills, reflection, and real action in developing interactive counseling media. This activity represents a strategic step toward strengthening the professional competencies of lecturers and GC teachers and supporting independent, innovative, adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable GC services.
