Abstract
Regional variations in per capita incomes have declined over time in the US. But income differentials may persist at smaller levels of geography, especially among small geographic areas with a major regional division. This paper investigates the causes of income differentials, the extent of income convergence, and the causes of such convergence among small areas in the Tennessee Valley region.
