Abstract
Post-stroke depression (PSD) is a common mental complication after a stroke. Patients often experience low mood, loss of interest, insomnia, and in severe cases, suicidal tendencies, which significantly affect their quality of life. This article reviews the Chinese and Western etiologies and mechanisms of PSD, and systematically summarizes the application of TCM nursing techniques including auricular acupoint pressing, moxibustion, acupoint massage, five-element music, and Tuina. Key intervention characteristics, such as syndrome-based acupoint selection and treatment timing, are identified. Existing shortcomings such as non-standardized procedures, small sample sizes, and underdeveloped combined protocols were also discussed, based on which recommendations are proposed to inform clinical practice and future research.
