Abstract
This study focused on a patient with first-onset cerebral infarction complicated by multiple comorbidities, analyzing the disease characteristics and key nursing challenges. The case-based teaching method was employed to conduct clinical instruction in integrated Chinese-Western medicine nursing. On the basis of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment, targeted interventions were implemented in combination with patient nursing assessments, addressing mobility impairment, impaired verbal communication, swallowing dysfunction, constipation and other issues. After the interventions, the muscle strength of the patient's left limb has recovered from grade 3 at admission to grade 4, and improvements were observed in verbal communication, choking while drinking, sleep quality and constipation symptoms. Under the guidance of instructors, students participated in the entire nursing process, including condition assessment, nursing diagnosis, plan formulation, intervention implementation, and outcome evaluation. Additionally, based on the case features, diverse teaching components such as theoretical learning, bedside teaching, scenario simulation, and group discussions were designed and implemented to systematically train students in disease monitoring, nursing operations, teamwork, and psychological care. The practice demonstrates that this teaching model effectively enhances students' clinical nursing thinking and comprehensive practical abilities while providing a reference-worthy case for integrated Chinese-Western medicine nursing education.
