Abstract
Islamic banking in Indonesia is an interesting object of study due to its quite dynamic development. The government, as a regulator, also plays a significant role in the advancement of Islamic banking in Indonesia. The issuance of Law no. 21 of 2008 requires Islamic banking actors in Indonesia to continue developing Islamic banks beyond being limited to being Islamic business units (UUS), but must also transform into Islamic commercial banks (BUS). This study aims to analyze the performance efficiency of one of the regional banks that converted from a conventional system to an Islamic system, namely Bank NTB. The research approach uses the Data Development Analysis (DEA) model with the help of MaxDEA 8 software. This study was conducted in the periods before and after the conversion, namely 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2021. The results show that before the conversion, Bank NTB showed optimal efficiency levels only in 2015 and 2016, while in 2017, Bank NTB's efficiency was not optimal. After the conversion, Bank NTB Syariah demonstrated optimal efficiency levels in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
