Abstract
The rapid development of financial technology and e-commerce has transformed people's transaction patterns into increasingly digital forms. The convenience of online shopping and the use of paylater payment facilities, such as Shopee PayLater, provide practicality for consumers but may also encourage consumptive behavior. This study aims to analyze the effects of online shopping convenience and Shopee PayLater usage on the consumptive behavior of the community in Mendalo Indah Village, Muaro Jambi. This study employed a quantitative approach using a purposive sampling technique. The sample size was determined using the Lemeshow formula, while data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS. The results show that online shopping convenience has a positive and significant effect on consumptive behavior, with a t-value of 3.423 and a significance value of 0.001. The use of Shopee PayLater also has a positive and significant effect on consumptive behavior, with a t-value of 3.847 and a significance value of < 0.001. Simultaneously, online shopping convenience and Shopee PayLater usage have a significant effect on consumptive behavior, with an F-value of 16.303 and a significance value of < 0.001. The R² value of 0.252 indicates that the two independent variables jointly explain 25.2% of the variation in consumptive behavior, while the remaining 74.8% is explained by other factors outside the research model. These findings indicate that greater convenience in online shopping and higher use of Shopee PayLater are associated with a higher tendency toward consumptive behavior.
