Abstract
This study examined the role of international law in promoting economic growth and sustainable? development, by explaining its role in regulating international economic relations, as reflected in the efforts of international organizations and international treaties to support both economic growth and sustainable development. The significance of the study stems from the growing international interest in the field of international economic relations, and the development witnessed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the international economic sphere as part of its efforts to achieve goals of Vision 2030 concerned with the fields of growth and development.
The study adopted the descriptive methodology to explain the concepts and topics related to economic growth and development and the role of international law therein, alongside the comparative methodology by comparing certain aspects between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The study was divided into a preliminary section and two chapters.
The preliminary section defined economic growth and development, by explaining the concept of economic growth internationally, and the concept of sustainable development internationally. Meanwhile, the first chapter addressed: international efforts in promoting economic growth and development, through the role of international organizations and agreements in promoting economic growth and development. The second chapter examined the effects of international cooperation on the promotion of economic growth and sustainable development through the regulation of international trade, the protection of foreign investments, and the promotion of sustainable development.
The study concluded with a number of results, the most important of which was that economic growth and sustainable development are interconnected topics affected by many international economic legal factors. It also found that international law plays an important role in regulating economic relations through international organizations and treaties. In light of these findings, the study recommended promoting specialized legal research on the role international economic law and developing national and international legal frameworks that support economic growth and sustainable development.
