Abstract
Emesis gravidarum is a common pregnancy condition characterized by nausea and vomiting caused by hormonal changes. Persistent symptoms, particularly when continuing into the second trimester, may result in decreased appetite, weight loss, weakness, nutritional problems, and disruption of daily maternal activities. This case report aimed to describe comprehensive midwifery care for a multigravida woman in the second trimester with emesis gravidarum at TPMB Nanik Irawati Amna, Geger. This study used a case report design with a midwifery care management approach and SOAP documentation. The subject was a 31-year-old multigravida woman (G2P1A0) at 23–24 weeks of gestation. Data were collected through interviews, observation, physical examination, supporting examinations, and documentation during three visits from June to July 2026. The initial assessment showed nausea and vomiting 4–5 times daily, reduced appetite, weakness, and weight loss. The mother had a stable general condition, normal vital signs, fetal heart rate of 143–148 beats/minute, and hemoglobin level of 9.5 g/dL. The interventions included health education about emesis gravidarum, nutritional counseling with small frequent meals, avoidance of nausea-triggering foods, adequate rest, compliance with Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) and iron (Fe) tablets, and warm ginger infusion for seven days. After care, vomiting frequency decreased to 2–3 times daily, appetite improved, body weight increased to 56 kg, fluid intake became adequate, and daily activities improved. Comprehensive midwifery care combining education, nutritional management, pharmacological treatment, and complementary ginger therapy contributed to reducing emesis gravidarum symptoms and improving maternal conditions. Continuous monitoring and antenatal care are recommended to support maternal and fetal well-being.
