Abstract
The utilization of the school environment through a previously established hydroponic program at SMA Negeri 5 Magelang had not been optimal. This community service activity aimed to optimize the school environment through the cultivation of water spinach and pakcoy while supporting the sustainability of the Adiwiyata program through participatory activities. The activity employed a descriptive approach with a participatory method consisting of preparation, seed sowing, seedling monitoring, transplantation into the hydroponic installation, nutrient application, plant maintenance, evaluation, and harvesting. The results showed that water spinach and pakcoy could be cultivated by utilizing the available hydroponic installation in the school environment. During the initial seedling stage, several problems were identified, including excessively elongated stems, pale plant color, and yellowing leaves. These conditions became the basis for evaluation and reflection, leading to reseeding as an effort to improve the cultivation process. The activity provided direct experience in plant management from seed sowing to harvesting and encouraged more productive and educational use of the school environment. The results of the activity were also disseminated to support the school community’s understanding of hydroponic installation maintenance and plant cultivation, thereby encouraging the continuation of the hydroponic program after the community service activity ended.
