Abstract
This study examined the effect of digital information systems on administrative efficiency in public tertiary institutions in Rivers State, Nigeria. The research was premised on the assumption that digital transformation has become a pivotal tool in the management of educational institutions, particularly for enhancing process responsiveness and record accuracy. Anchored on the Technological Determinism Theory, the study adopted a descriptive survey design. A structured questionnaire was administered to academic and non-academic administrators across five selected tertiary institutions. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings revealed that digital information systems significantly influence administrative efficiency through improved record accuracy and process responsiveness. The study concluded that the adoption of robust digital information systems enhances institutional coordination and transparency in administrative operations. It recommended capacity building, system integration, and consistent policy enforcement to deepen the gains of digital administration in public tertiary institutions.
