Abstract
This study determined the influence of available facilities on undergraduate students’ attitude towards the Google Classroom application in Borno and Yobe State Universities, Nigeria. Two objectives were formulated to guide the study, and two research questions were answered. The study used a descriptive survey research design. The target population for this study was one thousand two hundred and twenty-four (1,224), comprised of 300 level Education students and course lecturers across the two Departments of Education in Borno and Yobe State Universities, in the 2024/2025 Academic session. This study used a simple random sampling technique to select a sample of 426 respondents, the sample consists of 418 300-level education students and 08 course lecturers. This is in line with the Research Advisor’s (2006) sample size table. The researchers developed the questionnaire and checklist used for data collection. The instrument was validated by specialists in the Department of Education, Kashim Ibrahim University, Maiduguri. A pilot study of the instruments was conducted in one university that was not part of the main study to measure the reliability coefficient using Cronbach’s Alpha to obtain value of 0.76 and 0.78 for the instruments respectively. The data collected was analysed with mean, standard deviation and percentages using SPSS. Findings of the study revealed that facilities required for effective use of Google Classroom are largely unavailable to most students. It also showed that students generally have a positive attitude towards Google Classroom, especially regarding usefulness, engagement, organisation and pleasurable learning. Therefore, the study concludes that although students generally have positive attitudes towards Google Classroom, the availability of essential facilities to support its effective use is extremely low. Based on the findings, the study recommends that the government and institutions should provide strong internet connectivity and digital devices to enhance Google Classroom usage.
