Abstract
A new species of the anisolabidid earwig genus Epilandex Hebard, 1927, Epilandex guangxiensis sp. nov., is described from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, southern China. The new species is characterized by its relatively small body, well-developed tegmina and hind wings, lateral carinae on abdominal tergites 6–8, asymmetrical male forceps with finely serrated inner branches, and elongate external parameres. It is most similar to E. acuminata Srivastava, 2003 from Hong Kong, China, and E. vignai Kočárek, 2021 from Sulawesi, Indonesia, but differs in the proportions of the head, antennal segments, mesosternum and metasternum, the shape of the left forceps branch, and the relative length of the genital lobe. The male genitalia are further characterized by elongate, gradually tapering external parameres and a slender, sinuate virga reaching the subapical region of the external parameres. The new species represents the first record of Epilandex from mainland China and extends the known distribution of the genus northward within the Oriental region.
