How to Challenge or Appeal an Incorrect Ranking Result
A fair, evidence-based approach to disputing scientist metrics without demanding a predetermined outcome.
Clarify what you dispute
Are you challenging identity attribution, missing publications, classification, a formula application or the final eligibility decision? Separate factual errors from disagreement with the published methodology.
Supply checkable evidence
Use DOIs, registry records, authoritative source links and a concise explanation of each requested correction. Do not submit account passwords or unnecessary private data. A comparison screenshot can provide context but is not a substitute for source evidence.
Distinguish correction from policy change
Fixing a wrong DOI is a record correction; changing the weighting of citations is a methodology question. Different decisions should be documented and, where appropriate, considered in a future version rather than silently changing a released edition.
Expect an auditable outcome
A credible process records the review, any changes and the basis for its decision. An appeal can correct error without guaranteeing an improved rank or a certificate.
